The Pilot Issue

August 16, 2026 (1mo ago)

I was cleaning my cupboard and found something which I hadn’t touched in years: my harmonica! (I thought I lost it :’) )

I picked it up and tried playing a few songs, and surprisingly I still had it in me. I was happy (yay)

The Diatonic beauty

The Diatonic beauty

And this got me thinking again about all the other things I’ve slowly stopped doing.

I used to play the ukulele, flute and even produce music.

Then work happened. (Not blaming it)
And somewhere along the way priorities shifted and things which used to be part of my life disappeared.

Then I watched Nimsdai

I came across Nimsdai on social media this week and ended up going down a bit of a rabbit hole.

I watched his conversation with Joe Rogan and then watched 14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible.

If you don’t know him (just like me previously), Nirmal Purja was a mountaineer who climbed all 14 of the world’s 8,000-metre peaks in just 6 months and 6 days, the previous record was just under 8 years! He left the British Special Forces to pursue mountaineering and also had to figure out how to fund the whole project. The guy and his team shot 100+ hours of footage while doing all of this as well!

Nimsdai

Seeing him really made me wanna go to Pokhara right away!
I don’t know when I’ll go but I’ll definitely go.

And I think that’s what stayed with me after watching him.

“Do things anyways!”

Maybe at 22, I should be doing more things simply because I want to.

Work was good

I’ve been enjoying it. I’ve started taking more ownership of features and definitely there’s more accountability now. Some days are tiring, but this week was pretty good.

The Bangalore commute, however, humbled me a little.
With Rapido being unreliable recently, I ended up taking more autos. The autos weren’t very kind to my wallet, but heyy, it was raining most days, so I’ll take that as the justification :)

I think it’s time we shift!

I’ll blame the Bangalore roads for making the shot blurry haha

What I'm taking from this week

I think I have to start making space for things again. Do things regardless, watch it go completely south and yet choose to do it again.

Also, I played football again on Friday.

And this time…

I managed to score a goal :) (teamwork yay)

Although, one important lesson from the previous week: play football wearing glasses at your own risk. You never know when the ball is going to get a little too close to your face.

A pretty sunset from the office terrace.

That’s it for this week.

Until next time! Rohith
